Potato Flake Sourdough Starter
Learn how to make a potato flake sourdough starter, using dry yeast, instant potato flakes and sugar.

Glass Mason Jar

- 1 Cup Warm Water
- ¼ Cup Sugar
- 1 Packet Dry Yeast
- 3 TBSP Instant Potato Flakes
Start with a clean glass jar or bowl
Add in the warm water, sugar, yeast & potato flakes
Stir everything together and scrap down the sides
cover with a plastic mason jar lid or coffee filter with a rubber band. Whatever you choose needs to be able to be breathable.
Leave at room temperature and stir daily for 4 days
On the 5th day it's time to feed your starter again. 1 cup of warm water ¼ cup of sugar and 3 tbsp of instant potato flakes
Stir well, place your breathable lid back on and let it sit for 8 hours or overnight
remove half (1 cup) and now it's time to bake!!
Place the starter in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it again or feed it again so it's ready in the next 8 hours.
