Easy Gut Friendly Gummy Bears

Homemade gummy bears are so much easier than you’d think! All it takes is three ingredients – fruit juice, maple syrup or honey and gelatin! This year I’ve been on a mission and kind of forced (thanks inflation) into making 98% of our food and snacks from scratch. We love to have gummy snacks in the house, not just for the kids but also for me. I’m a big sucker for any type of gummy candy! Making these from home were such a simple and quick swap!

What Kind of Fruit Juice?

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different types of fruit juice, in this particular recipe I used mango and my kiddos devoured them. Any 100% fruit juice will work 🙂 My favorite is grape juice!!

Step One: Bloom Your Gelatin!

Use 1/2 cup of COLD fruit juice and add 6 TBSP of gelatin and let sit for about 5 minutes. This is an important step or else you might end up with chunks in your gummies.

Step Two: Bring Juice to A Boil

Add the remaining juice to a pot and bring to a simmer, stirring frequently add in your maple syrup or honey and let shimmer for a few more minutes.

Step Three: Adding Juice to Bloomed Gelatin

Pour the hot mixture into the gelatin that has been sitting and stir until everything has dissolved.

Step Four: Pour into Molds

Now it’s time to pour into your molds, or into a 8×8 dish that has parchment paper, let sit for 10 minutes then move to the fridge to sit for 1-2 hours.

Gelatin is a protein-rich substance derived from an animal’s collagen from their bones. It’s colorless,

Gelatin can provide digestive support, can help with joint issues and a rich protein source.
