I was recently gifted old cookbooks from my great-grandmother a lot of them were from the great depression era and what perfect time during this crazy inflation we are facing right now. I’m so excited to share some of my favorites with you all.

What You’ll Need

Any pasta will work, I like to use macaroni pasta

Heavy cream or half and half will work

Old Fashioned Creamy Noodles with Peas

Easy one pot meal under 30 minutes. This great depression era meal uses simple ingredients like noodles, broth, cream and peas!

Equipment

  • 1 Pot I like to use my cast iron

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ Cup Butter
  • 2 TBSP Olive Oil
  • 5 Cups Uncooked Macaroni Noodles
  • Frozen Peas
  • Cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 Cup Half & Half
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasonings Or more, I always add way more seasonings
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter & oil over medium heat
  • Add noodles and stir 2-3 minutes or until noodles are lightly browned
  • Stir in peas, broth, cream and seasonings
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat and shimmer for 10-12 minutes, covered or until noodles are tender. Stir occasionally
